This README file introduces the dataset used for the paper: Olano, J.M.; García-Cervigón, A.I.; Sangüesa-Barreda, G.; Rozas, V.; Muñoz-Garachana, D.; García-Hidalgo, M. & García-Pedrero, A. (2020) Satellite data and machine learning reveal the incidence of late frost defoliations on Iberian beech forests. Ecological Applications. Data are presented in a txt file (Frost_events_Iberian_beech_forests.txt). ********************DESCRIPTION OF VARIABLES INCLUDED IN THE DATASET****************** 1) site - identificator for each of the pixels of 250 x 250 m size included in the machine learning model 2) year - from 2003 to 2018 3) pred.fac - dichotomic factor (frost, non.frost) that contains the prediction for each pixel and year from the machine learning model. "frost" corresponds to pixels predicted to have suffered a frost event in the corresponding year; "non.frost" corresponds to pixels predicted to not have suffered a frost event. 4) pred.int - dichotomic variable (1, 0) that contains similar informacion than pred.fac (1 for pixels predicted to have suffered a frost event; 0 for pixels predicted to not have suffered a frost event). 5) longitude 6) latitude 7) elevation - meters above sea level 8) aspect - degrees 9) precip - total annual precipitation 10) T.mean - mean annual temperature
